| Title | Improvement of Choroidal Blood Void in a Case of Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy |
| Purpose | To report a case of acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) which responded well to systemic corticosteroid. The clinical course and treatment results, especially the features observed by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) will be discussed along with a review of the literature. |
| Methods | This was a retrospective case report. Systemically corticosteroids were administrated across three months for the AMN. The best-correct visual acuity (BCVA), as well as the color fundus, near-infrared reflectance images, optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT-A and visual field (VF) exams were documented. |
| Results | The improvement after treatment in the patient not only could be detected by BCVA, VF and OCT but also could be noticed by OCT-A, which disclosed improvements of choroidal flow void in the choriocapillaris layer in both eyes. |
| Conclusion | In the present study, the choroidal flow void revealed by the OCT-A improved after systemic corticosteroid, along with the recovered of BCVA, OCT and VF defects. These findings may suggest inflammation plays a role in vascular compromise, and that steroid treatment may be beneficial to AMN patients at the acute stage. |
