| Title | Atypical Toxoplasma Retinochoroiditis in Immunocompetent Patients |
| Purpose | To analyze and report 5 cases of atypical toxoplasma retinochoroiditis seen in a referral eye hospital in southern India. |
| Methods | Retrospective observational case reports |
| Results | We report 5 cases of atypical toxoplasma retinochoroiditis. The first case had severe vitritis with vitreous bands over the superior retina and required oral anti toxoplasma medications and multiple intravitreal clindamycin injections for resolution. The second and third cases had multifocal choroiditis. The fourth case had an initial clinically misleading picture like toxocara, but responded to anti toxoplasma treatment. In the fifth case, which clinically appeared to be toxoplasma retinochoroiditis and responded to oral anti toxoplasma medications, the serum toxoplasma titres were negative. |
| Conclusion | This series highlights the possible variations in presentation of toxoplasma retinochoroiditis in immunocompetent patients and the challenges in diagnosis and treatment. |
